Days 3 and 4 – We picked Peter up in Eau Claire, and headed west across MN, then North Dakota, camping for the night in Jamestown.
The next day we stopped at the Painted Canyon (Badlands) and really enjoyed the short hike from a rest stop down into the landscape.

Crossing Montana, we caught a first sight of higher mountains, and… these twin aircraft fuselages??

Gas mileage, with the piano in tow, is about 18-19 mpg instead of 24 mpg without it. We drove to western Montana, where we camped in the Beaverhead National Forest.
